Can I wash my hair with conditioner instead of shampoo?
Although it is possible to wash your hair occasionally with conditioner only (a method also known as co-washing), this is not ideal for most hair types. Shampoo is specifically designed to effectively remove dirt, excess oil, and product buildup. Conditioner, on the other hand, is meant to nourish and detangle the hair but lacks the cleansing power of shampoo.
Using only conditioner can lead to product buildup and greasy hair. It is therefore recommended to use shampoo for a thorough cleanse, followed by conditioner for extra care. When cleansing your hair, choose mild cleansing agents, such as those with ingredients like cocamidopropyl betaine, which are less drying than harsher sulfates.
