Many people wonder how often you should cut your hair. The average number of times you have to go to the hairdresser is between 4 and 12 weeks. This depends on the length of your hair and the needs you have. Our Keune hair experts tell you how to recognize when it's time to go to the hairdresser.

When should you go to the hairdresser?

The simplest answer is: as soon as you can no longer style your hair. In addition, you know it is time to go to the hairdresser when you suffer a lot of tangles. Split ends are also an indication that it is time for a haircut. You can recognize split ends when 1 hair has multiple ends, or when your hair has a white tip at the end.

To give you some guidance on how often you have to go to the hairdresser, we have listed the average for the most common situations:

  • Cut short hair: every 3 to 4 weeks

  • Cut medium hair: every 4 to 6 weeks

  • Cut long hair: every 12 to 14 weeks

  • Update outgrowth: every 4 to 6 weeks

  • Update balayage: every 8 to 12 Weeks

How often should you cut your hair to grow it?

It is preferable not to cut your hair if you want to let it grow long. However, we advise you to have your hair trimmed once every three months to keep it healthy. Your hair grows about 1 centimeter per month. By going to the hairdresser once every three months, you keep your hair healthy and it grows nicely long.
